As far as I know this isn't possible in the current state of the game but this might change with future updates. Maybe it's already possible. I haven't tried in weeks since it was not possible at the beginning when the early access version was released.

I wonder what the best way is to get your hands on leaves?

I need massive amounts of leaves and chopping bushes get's me a fair amount of leaves but I always have to leave my base area plus it takes a lot of time to get the 1000+ leaves I need each night atm
