What's the hardest setting?

Hi, we just finished our first season of our let's play. Now that there are new settings to play with, we wondered if anyone can help us to understand the difficulty. Is legendary the hardest or is it the original settings? :? We want to play the hardest settings for our next let's play, so any help with that would be great!

It would be very helpful if the settings had a little description about what to expect, for instance :- Survival :- Longer nights and 3x stronger enemies. Something like that.
